Officials and Rules

Providing resources to support volunteers, offer incentives and raise awareness of the importance of volunteering.

The OEA is helps to provide a sustainable supply of trained officials, including course designers and builders, to Ontario’s horse trials. We also communicate the key rules (or rule changes) governing Eventing to our members. From time to time, the OEA proposes new rules to make our sport safer and to improve the Eventing experience for both horses and riders.

The OEA's rule of the month

Welcome to the OEA's Rule of the Month, where with TD Peggy Hambly, we profile key rules of Eventing and keep you up to date on any critical rules changes you need to know about!

To learn about this month's rule, check out the News page.

Official's bursary

This bursary provides monetary assistance for officials and up-and-coming officials to attend educational programs.

The OEA offers this bursary to recognize the commitment and expense required by officials (and those wishing to become officials), to maintain or upgrade their status and continue their education.

The number of bursaries available varies from year to year and will be awarded by the OEA to qualified candidates, based on need and circumstances.

For more information, visit the Officials Bursary page.
