New development division – EV60 (Starter) – will run province-wide in Ontario in 2023!
The OEA is thrilled to release Starter (EV60) Division: Guidelines to govern the running of a new development division, accompanied by a full leaderboard (Jr. & Sr.), in Ontario for the 2023 season!
Previously known “Starter” or “Grasshopper”, going forward it will be referred to as EV60, which reflects a maximum height specification for jumps set at .60m. EV60, like EV78 (Pre-Entry), can be offered at EC- sanctioned events as a “Local” division, subject to Bronze sanctioning.
Big thank you to our Organizers, officials and other stakeholders who contributed to this effort. Adherence to a common set of Guidelines will encourage a level-playing field for eventers across the province and is key to our continued effort to develop the grass roots of our sport and promote competition in a safe and sanctioned environment. We’re confident that this division will prove to be as popular in Ontario as it is across the country.
However, recognizing that we still have lessons to learn, we’ll conduct an evaluation of the Guidelines and their implementation in Ontario at the end of 2023 to suggest any necessary changes and improvements.
This effort furthers the overarching objectives associated with sport development, safety and competition support as laid out in the OEA’s Strategic/Operational Plan (2021-2025).
