Welcome to the OEA’s Rule of the Month, where, with TD Peggy Hambly, we profile key rules of Eventing and keep you up to date on any critical rules changes you need to know about!
Question:
Something for the off-season
Peggy’s guidance:
I really don’t recommend the D section or A section rule books for bedtime reading unless you really need help falling asleep! But I’d suggest you spend a little time over the winter brushing up on some basics that could save you some trouble (and visits from people like me) when competing next year.
Be sure you understand certain things such as:
D110 Horse Welfare
D111 Competitor Welfare
D112 Abuse of Horse, it’s very important you have a clear understanding of this.
D113 Dangerous riding
D114 Dress
D115 Saddlery
D16 Inquiries, Protests and AppealsPlus the rules for each section of our riding.
Lots to learn! If you read through the rule book and don’t quite understand something, feel free to email info@ontarioeventing.ca with your question and I’ll be happy to answer. You’re probably not the only who needs some help, so keep an eye out for member-requested Rules of the Month this winter!
Happy Eventing!
